I received a copy of this book for review purposes, and I enjoyed it (super quick read!), my teenage son loved it more! I makes for a great gift for the teen in your life, especially if they love their video games like my son. Told in a graphic format, this tome is a complete, illustrated history of video games. It highlights the history of everything that has brought video games to what they are today, from early machines to the entrepreneurs that have transformed gaming a worldwide, billion-dollar industry.

Writer Jonathan Hennessey paired with illustrator Jack McGowan to create this full-color of video game history, and the graphics make for an easy, quick and enjoyable read. These visual supports make this book a good pick for emerging readers, too. The emphasis here is on gaming as an artform and its impact on society, both interesting points to consider as the gaming industry advances on a daily basis to even more high tech horizons.
