This is a beautifully designed cover with debossed imagery and a lovely linen texture. It’s a fantastic coffee table book. Between the title and the eye-catching design, it’s hard to miss. Once people pick it up, you’ve got a great conversation starter.
I’ve been a fan of Fran Krause for a while now, so I jumped at the opportunity to review his new book. If you missed his first book (Deep Dark Fears), I suggest that you pick it up ASAP. The dark humor, the clever artwork, and the easy read of both books make for easy winners.
Some of Krause’s “deep dark fears” are goofy. Some are downright terrifying. You may just pick up a new phobia or two by the end of his first book. Once you’re done with the second, you may not want to leave your house again … but what could be lurking within your own walls?
If you’re a fan of the macabre, if you enjoy a bit of wry gallows humor, this is the book for you. It’d also make a fab holiday/birthday gift for the cynic in your life.
