I was very excited to get this book. I was hoping for some new ideas to shake up taco night, but that was not to be. While the recipes in this book are indeed different, I had been expecting more traditional recipes. Many of the recipes call for ingredients I have not heard of or are simply not found in my small town. There are a lot of seafood recipes, and I am not a fan of seafood. To me many of the ingredients are what you would expect in an expensive restaurant, not necessarily what the average home cook is going to use. Things like pork tongues, skate, tripe etc. Others just don't fit what I think of when I want tacos - deviled egg tacos for example. Deviled eggs on a tortilla. Really not the sort of recipes I expected. It is a very well made book with beautiful photos on sturdy, semi-glossy pages, but the recipes are simply not to my tastes and as such I am never going to put it to use. It might be more suited to someone with a more adventurous palette (and one who likes seafood a lot) who lives in a big city where such ingredients are easily found.
I received this book from Blogging for Books for review.
