I couldn’t put When Grace Sings by Kim Vogel Sawyer down. It is an enthralling book that captures the reader’s attention from the very beginning. It is the second book in the Zimmerman Restoration Trilogy and is just as good as the first book. I cannot wait to read the conclusion. I had not previously read this author before delving into the first book but I plan on reading more of her books. The author really knows how to pull you into the character’s lives in such an intimate way that you feel as if you have known each of them most of your life. I won’t forget them soon.

Alexa’s entire life changed when her mother and she went to Arborville her mother’s hometown. She was raised with no family other than her church friends and now she is surrounded by them. While her mother decides to go back to the city, her job, and the life they knew Alexa decides to stay and run a Bed and Breakfast. She has the skills and is very friendly. She wants nothing more than to be accepted in her family and to be successful at her new endeavor. Things get shaken up when Briley Forrester shows up. He needs a place to stay while he is in Arborville and she agrees to let him stay at the Bed and Breakfast.  The more time he spends there the more the two of them are drawn to each other and the more it confuses her. Her heart is divided. She is drawn one way and her loyalty lies in another. What will she do? Can she have it both ways? Or will she find she has to choose between family and her heart?

Briley is a news reporter and he is given a story to find some dirt on the Amish. He is convinced he will be able to do so and quickly. He doesn’t believe they live wholesome and as simple of a life as they present to the world. He is sure that there is dirt and secrets hiding just beneath the surface. After all nobody I perfect. When he arrives in Arborville he finds a nice Bed and Breakfast to stay at and he is intrigued by Alexa the girl how runs it. There is something about her that draws him to her but he must not let her distract him from his story. The more time he spends in the community the more frustrating it gets because things seem to be what it seems. When he learns the truth about Alexa her family he may find exactly what he is looking for, but is it really what he wants? The more time he is around Alexa and her family the more he is drawn to her and the community. Will he find there is something more there beyond his story? Or will he leave with the biggest story he has ever had?

I really enjoyed When Grace Sings. I was already invested in the story having read When Mercy Rains. I loved continuing their story and really enjoyed seeing what became of some of the characters. I am looking forward to finding out more when the final book When Love Returns is released.  I loved the interaction between Alexa and Briley. I really liked that they both grew and both had things they needed to learn. There were some plot twists that I didn’t expect or see coming and I love it when that happens. It’s very rare for me since I read so much. I would highly recommend When Grace Sings to anyone who enjoys Amish stories, romances, and good reads in general.
