Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand is the incredible story of Olympic runner and war hero Louis Zamperini. Once the town terror, Zamperini becomes the town hero, and eventually a national hero because of the resilience he showed in POW camps in Japan during World War II.
I was impressed with this book. It was gripping, not at all like many other biographical works I have read. If I didn't know better, I would have thought it was fiction. It was an incredible story, but one I will never forget.
It did contain some very mature content, but Hillenbrand handled it very well, with class and skill.
