A complete, illustrated history of video games--highlighting the machines, games, and people who have made gaming a worldwide, billion dollar industry/artform--told in a graphic novel format. Author Jonathan Hennessey and illustrator Jack McGowan present the first full-color, chronological origin story for this hugely successful, omnipresent artform and business. Hennessey provides readers with everything they need to know about video games--from their early beginnings during World War II to the emergence of arcade games in the 1970s to the rise of Nintendo to today's app-based games like Angry Birds and Pokemon Go. Hennessey and McGowan also analyze the evolution of gaming as an artform and its impact on society. Each chapter features spotlights on major players in the development of games and gaming that contains everything that gamers and non-gamers alike need to understand and appreciate this incredible phenomenon. My thoughts: This would be a perfect gift for those who love and collect comics, graphic novels, and gamers. It's basically the history of games put down in a way that would definitely be fun to read and learn about if your in to that kind of stuff, it's broken down so it's easy for you to understand what's been mentioned in each chapter, and the graphics are bright and colorful . The only downside to it ,is that it not made for someone like me who's not into comics or graphic novels, because it did take me a while to get into it. And while I do play games ,I don't play them all the time nor do I collect them . But I do know someone who will love this as a gift since their into comics, graphic novels big time. With that said I would love to say thinks to Blogging for books for giving me the opportunity and change to read and review something that is completely out of my comfort zone in change for my honest.
