I wasn’t really sure what I was expecting from this book, but it didn’t really do it for me. Thankfully, it is relatively short (just under 300 pages) and did keep me moderately entertained. The setting is a small Scottish town at the beginning of an Ice Age (brought on by climate change). More or less, its really effing cold and life is pretty weird. There are 3 main characters, a trans teen, her mom and a 20 something (I think) guy from London that is following a trail that his mother and grandmother left him before they died. It really focuses on the relationships between these 3 and their growth as people. But there really isn’t much plot. And don’t get me started on the ending (or lack thereof). Now, I’m fine with slow building books, but give me an ending! So if you don’t mind a lackluster (or no) plot but fantastic characters, this is the book for you.
