Set in the early 1700’s, John Newton is still just a young teenage man. Author Jody Hedlund takes the life of this amazing young man and writes a fictional story of how his life may have been. I always love these stories because it helps bring to life historical people and how they may have lived. Unfortunally Newton made a string of bad choices in his youth, taking him away from his home and the love of his life. And I need to mention Polly, because she struggled a bit on her own. Through many deep struggles, and a good amount of time that passed, John and Polly’s life changed, and his life was lived for the Lord. This is truly a story of love and the Amazing Grace of our Lord. John Newton wrote one of the most loved, it not THE most loved song of all times, Amazing Grace. Many times our church service ends with Amazing Grace, whether its sang or just played, and there’s just no better way to end a service, but for the reminder that we are saved from a wretched sinner to life in our Lord Jesus Christ. This book is a must read for everyone. It has so much, there is no way I can explain it all here. You have to read the book to get the full emotional affects. This review was written by me, and is my opinions alone. I rec’d a copy of Newton and Polly through the Blogging for Books Tours.
