One of my favorite cookbooks that I found this year is Slow Fires : Mastering New Ways to Braise, Roast and Grill by Justin Smillie. Beautifully photographed, interesting, informative and incredibly well written. This book offers a challenge for beginners and seasoned cooks as well as many of the recipes take several days to make but the great thing is that each feast comes with "how-to-plan" box so that you know what do do and when. I think this would be a great book to give to the man or woman in your life who loves learning new techniques in cooking as well as learning how to prepare oils, vinegars, rubs and broths too!
