This book is a truly excellent source for dishes destined to be shared by multiple people, or simply for two people if you cut back the recipe! I always feel a little extra pressure when potlucks roll around, and this book is a confidence booster for such occasions. Donnellyâ€™s tips on preparation are really helpful for planning a memorable potluck dish.
All of the recipes that Iâ€™ve tried so far have been excellent. I especially love the Slow-Roasted Lemon-Soy-Honey Pork Shoulder (pg. 99) and the Pork-Stuffed Collards (pg. 127). Her Tomatillo-Pulled Chicken (pg. 96) was the basis for my own pulled chicken recipe! Each recipe is easy to understand, and the ingredients are easy to find at the store or farmerâ€™s market. This is good-quality, slightly rustic, and wow-worthy cooking.
Especially good for: those who need ideas for great potluck dishesâ€”this one has a ton! And for anyone else who wants food that tastes good right away and as leftovers.
