They say to never judge a book by its cover, but that is exactly what I did with The Happiness of Pursuit.  I saw it and immediately though, "I have to read that book!"  The imagery, the title, everything attracted me to this book.  Unfortunately, I could tell about half-way into the first chapter that this book was not quite as exciting as I hoped it would be.  I truly enjoyed reading the stories and experiences of the people who had pursued great journeys.  I could not even fathom traveling to all of the countries in the world, like the author did.  But, I was expecting the experiences to make up more of the "meat" of the book.As a reader, I didn't love the "how-to" parts of the book.  Maybe this is just because it wasn't what I was expecting, but I felt like it caused a sort of redundancy that caused some of the chapters to be difficult to read.
If you are someone who longs to take your life on a great journey, you will probably love this book.  If you've questioned the logistics of such a journey, what other people would think of you, and what you would have to sacrifice to achieve such a thing, I believe you will be inspired by this book.  But, if you are like me and perfectly content with not experiencing an extravagant journey by society's standards, you may find this book slightly redundant and, at times, dull.  Again, the stories shared within the book are great and can be enjoyed by anyone!
