Art often brings to mind paintings and sculptures, but there are many other ways for art to be made. In Modern Printmaking, Sylvie Covey tells about the history of different types of printmaking, as well as the process for them.

I am a graphic designer, so this book caught my attention pretty quickly. It covers both types I have heard of and several that I have never heard of before. Though most of the styles in it are out of my interest or ability, I still was able to learn more about them and see how the results look. I did find a few things that I want to try my hand at now.

With each type, there is history about them and examples of how they look and are done. They are described in enough detail to get you started experimenting and improving your skills. Covey provides a list of supplies, and tips that are useful so that you don't have to learn the hard way.

Covey interviewed several artists in the printmaking field to research the book, and she included art done by these artists and information about the artists themselves.

No matter your level of interest, whether you just like looking at and reading about printmaking, or you want to do it, this book has something for you.

I received a free copy of Modern Printmaking from the Blogging for Books program in exchange for this review.
