Printmaking continues to flourish in the modern era, appealing to both traditional artists and graphic designers. Modern Printmaking by Sylvie Covey covers a wide range of printmaking processes, including relief, intaglio, lithography, serigraphy (or screen printing), mixed media, and post-digital. For each process, Ms. Covey provides a brief history, representative images, basic steps, and a list of the necessary tools and materials.

Of particular interest to me are post-digital graphics, which marry digital technologies with traditional techniques, such as sketching, painting, and wood blocking. Because post-digital graphic artists write their own programs and codes to create their images, their programs and codes are therefore the original matrix, which produce digital drawings that are also original prints.

This book is an excellent resource for individuals wanting to obtain a good understanding of the methodology and practice of traditional and digital printmaking.
