If you are not already hooked on the Crossroads series, you will be after reading NOT THIS TIME. This novel is a terse tale of crime and violence that delves into the dark heart but returns to the redeeming light.

In the small town of Seagrove Village, Sara and Beth laid the plans for a multi-million dollar business together. They once had a solid friendship but it is definitely strained.

Sara's husband is kidnapped and who do authorities look at? Is it Sara or Beth?

Their small, quiet town is put into turmoil by terrorism. Beth is at odds with who to trust or not to trust. She believes she knows someone who is linked to the attack, but who is it? Does the Crisis Center fit into this plot?

In all the terror and fear, Beth falls for a man from her past. She knows she shouldn't allow herself to fall in love, but can she resist or even make sense of their bond? Her world is unraveling. Is redemption possible or is it beyond redemption?

Beth sees herself as too plain for any man to be genuinely interested. Sara was considered fragile. She didn't try to change because she didn't want to go out of her "comfort zone". Situations arose where she had no choice but to step out of her "comfort zone".

The situation takes place on a Saturday night, 6 p.m. on June 5th.

Det. Jeff Meyers was late as he found an empty spot in the country club's parking lot. As he parked in the last five rows, he grabbed the invitation to Harvey and Roxxy's wedding vows renewal. He then rushed through the humid heat to the main entrance.

He breathed deeply as the cold air hit his face. He was showing up late and sweaty. He hadn't had time to shower and change.

Jeff headed for the rear of the building. With all it's fine art and polish, the club was too elegant for his tastes but the people were friendly enough. Something was wrong. It was strange. There was no one in sight.

Cool marble floors stretched between white columns which led to French doors opening to the courtyar. Since the heat had been over whelming and Roxie had had her heart set on the courtyard, the ceremony had been scheduled for late in the day.

When Jeff reached the courtyard, he realized why no one was around. Bodies lay everywhere. All the slatted chairs were empty. Every guest was sprawled on the floor.

Jeff pulled out his phone and called the station. "busy". The silence was deafening. What was happening?

The building had trapped a pungent scent that burned Jeff's nose. It was faint but fading fast. "CHEMICAL"? All of his friends that he had grown up with, were they dead?

I liked the book because it kept you going. You didn't want to put it down. Another reason was, for every evil thing there was a good thing to balance it out.
