This book really got me in the mood for Fall. The part that prepared me for Fall centers around an apple orchard and all of the yummy treats that we can make from apples! I love the main character, Rhoda. She is gifted in so many ways and totally down to earth. She loves her gardens and growing herbs and berries. She makes her living with her garden and produce. Rhoda is generous with her time and cares about people. Her fellow Amish are suspicious of her and think she is somewhat evil. They really do not understand her gift. I can’t say that I do either, but I can believe it exists and it’s nol evil! Some Amish folks misguided opinions appear more evil than what they perceive Rhoda’s gift to be. Samuel and Jacob actually run the apple orchard and Rhoda meets them through some misadventures of their sister, Leah. Leah winds up spending the night at Rhoda’s home and they became unlikely friends. This is a great book. I really want to read the whole series and can’t wait for the next books to come out. I recommend it as something different for fans of Amish fiction. You will enjoy it. The book totally engaged me.
